The Columbia Public Schools in Columbia, Missouri, anticipates full-time openings for school psychology internship positions for the 2022-2023 school year.  Columbia is a city of approximately 125,000 people, situated in between Kansas City and St. Louis.  It is host to the University of Missouri-Columbia, Columbia College, and Stephens College and provides a diverse educational setting and a number of community resources.

Our school psychologists are primarily responsible for conducting multidisciplinary evaluations for special education eligibility.  In addition to this role, school psychologists also engage in consultation, conduct functional behavioral assessments, assist with creating behavior improvement plans, lead teams in data-based decision making, and provide guidance when building leaders express interest in response to intervention.  On a limited basis, school psychologists also provide individual counseling and lead social skills groups for students with disabilities.  School psychology interns assist their supervisors with these duties under direct training and supervision.  Supervision is tailored to individual needs and program requirements; group supervision sessions for all interns are offered monthly.  All supervisors are Ed.S. level school psychologists.

Internship applicants must be working toward a terminal degree in school psychology and are required to seek a Temporary Authorization Certificate as a school psychologist in Missouri.  Contact the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education at for more information.  Successful candidates will be offered a salary of $34,500 as well as full medical and dental benefits for the 9-month internship.

A completed application packet must be on file with our Human Resources Department prior to being considered for an interview (found at: An introduction to our excellent school district and application guidelines can be found at  While the deadline for applications is March 1, 2022, early applications are encouraged, as interviews will occur as viable applications are received and offers may be made once exceptional, qualified applicants are interviewed.

If you would like more information prior to submitting an application, contact Kami Paris, Lead School Psychologist, at or (573) 214-3200.
