    School Psychology Internship Job Posting

The Independence School District (ISD) in Independence, Missouri, anticipates full-time openings for School Psychology Internship positions for the 2021-2022 school year.

School Psychologists in ISD primarily serve in a consultation model with a strong emphasis in behavior. Daily responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
    • Conduct functional behavior assessments
    • Develop student support plans/behavior intervention plans
    • Provide guidance on data tracking and data collection tools
    • Provide guidance on problem-solving teams and help school teams in implementing three-tiered models of student support
    • Design and implement academic and behavioral interventions
    • Analyze student data to determine the effectiveness of interventions provided and to evaluate growth in student learning
    • Assess students for special education (through sped process outlined by sped department)
    • Assist special educators in translating evaluation results into meaningful educational recommendations and IEP goals
    • Facilitate understanding of community mental health, medical, and psycho-educational evaluation reports, including understanding the implications of various DSM diagnoses
    • Coordinate and present staff in-service training on educational and psychological topics such as trauma-informed care and trauma sensitive school practices, behavior management, mental health, problems-solving teams, etc.
    • Conduct threat assessments and provide crisis response assistance when necessary

School Psychology Interns would be responsible for these duties under direct training and supervision of a certified School Psychologist within the district. Supervision will be tailored to individual needs and program requirements. NASP competencies will be used as a guide and evaluation tool throughout supervision. Two-hour individual supervision sessions will be provided weekly for each intern (additional supervision time will be available, if necessary).  Ed.S. and Ph.D. level internships will be considered.

Internship applicants must be working toward a degree in School Psychology and are required to seek a Temporary Authorization Certificate as a School Psychologist in Missouri.  Contact the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education at www.dese.mo.gov for more information.  Successful candidates will be offered a $25,000 stipend and  full medical and dental benefits for the 10-month internship.  District-provided housing may be available for successful applicants.
