    Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.

    The vision of the School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) section is to help create comprehensive school mental health systems to address a full array of services and supports which includes mental health promotion, prevention, early identification and treatment. This section supports a statewide interagency SBMH team which provides/facilitates trainings, resources, technical assistance, and support to LEAs. This section supports School Social Workers, School Psychologists, and additional Mental Health Professionals providing services in schools.

    What you’ll do:

    • Identify, create, and/or facilitate school-and community-based mental health and behavior health resources.
    • Identify, plan, develop, and deliver state-wide, regional, and local educational sessions, workshops, conferences, meetings, webinars, and resources relating to school-and community-based mental health and behavior health topics.
    • Lead existing and emerging state-wide initiatives related to mental health and behavior health topics.
    • Develop, coordinate and facilitate the School Social Work Advisory Council.
    • Work closely with the Department’s school counseling and school based mental health staff to collaborate with school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, school based mental health staff, administrators, and school districts to promote student wellness, mental health, and behavioral health for students and staff.
    • Monitor and address new legislation initiatives as they relate to mental health and behavior health topics.
    • Assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive school-based mental health framework.
    • Support the implementation of Missouri Trauma Informed Schools Initiative.
    • Provide technical assistance to school-based mental health professionals (e.g., school social workers).
    • Work with external organizations to facilitate various mental health surveys (e.g., Missouri Institute of Mental Health (MIMH) Missouri Student Survey).
    • Answer/address stakeholder communications regarding behavioral health topics (e.g., school-based mental health, trauma informed).
    • Perform other related work as assigned.

    All you need for success:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Minimum of three years’ experience in a public school environment as a school social worker, school counselor, school psychologist, or closely related school-based mental health professional.
